How many more insane antics from Trump can the world still endure?
Lebanon is now the main battleground, and the game Israel is playing there is incredibly risky for Netanyahu and Trump. The failed talks between the United States and Iran surprised no one. But what is surprising is that Trump’s foreign policy apparently has no safety net.

What exactly did we just witness when the talks between the United States and Iran collapsed? For many, the whole spectacle was as surreal as it was unfair. Were the Americans ever serious about it? Or were they simply delusional about their position in the talks from the very beginning? J.D. Vance’s statement to the cameras afterward had a tone of delusion and idiocy, with references to Iran “not accepting our conditions.” How is it possible that the whole world, including America itself, can see that Iran is the dominant party and that the United States is the weaker side, the one that needed the ceasefire most urgently?
The Black Hawk Down scenario — where a military mission fails, and then the rescue mission fails as well — was enough to convince Trump that his ideas and plans were hopelessly unrealistic, so he needed a way out. Many of his critics even predicted that he would declare victory and then withdraw, which is what we are now seeing happen, but few could have imagined that Iran would play along, knowing that nothing he offers can ever be taken seriously, since he breaks his own promises almost as quickly as he makes them.
The GCC countries are still stuck in a quagmire, and Trump is no longer coming to their aid or holding press conferences in which he displays enormous cardboard charts of their investments. According to some reports, Qatar has asked for the return of the 400 million dollar aircraft it gifted to Trump, while other reports are circulating that Doha wants American troops withdrawn from the peninsula. Others, such as the Saudis, have already indicated that they are seeking protection elsewhere than from the United States.
What is keeping them from turning their backs entirely on the United States is that Trump keeps alive the hope that there is still a possibility of regaining control of the strait through an international armada of 30 countries. It remains unclear, however, whether this international coalition would actually attack Iranian forces to seize the strait, or whether it would simply arrive in the region and impose a blockade. The latter idea is the most risky so far for Trump, since China has indicated that it would regard it as an act of war if its ships were stopped and seized. That leaves Pakistan, India, and Japan as the main players who have sought agreements with Iran. And France. Would Trump really be so stupid as to confiscate oil from these allies?
Lebanon is now the main battleground, and the game Israel is playing there is incredibly risky for Netanyahu and Trump. You have to wonder: how long will Iran accept a ceasefire if Lebanon is being bombarded by Israeli forces? To really answer that question, it is worth looking at how long Israel can sustain its current losses, both in manpower and, perhaps more importantly, in tanks, around 100 of which Hezbollah claims to have destroyed. Given that Israel only had around 200 in operation, this amounts to a decisive victory for the Lebanese Shiite group, and Iran may well choose to let them continue until Netanyahu, like Trump, is forced to accept defeat and withdraw.

But there are only lies and deception on the side of the United States and Israel. Nothing we see on social media is true, since Israel in particular has mastered the dark art of professionally fabricated fake videos. These are highly convincing and mislead enough people to generate a wave of reposts that acquires credibility.
Even the talks with Iran in Islamabad were far from honest, not only because they were staged in order to secure the ceasefire Trump needed, but also because there was a very real possibility that the entire Iranian delegation would be bombed by America.
When news of this plan reached the Iranians, they arranged a completely different return journey for their planes at the last minute, out of fear of an American strike. It is difficult to imagine how Iran can take the Trump camp seriously in such an atmosphere, or even how the rest of the world will tolerate Trump’s sensational stupidity, behaving like a child entertaining himself with war games in the absurd belief that America still rules the world.
George Conway, whose wife led Trump’s 2016 campaign, put it well.
“I’m just reflecting on the fact that one idiot, one psychotic idiot, one capricious fool, has completely screwed up the world economy, not only to the detriment of his own people, but to the detriment of the planet. … How much more can the planet endure?”
